37th FIFF to screen more than 100 titles

More than 100 titles from 75 countries have been scheduled to go on screen at the 37th edition of the Fajr International Film Festival (FIFF) in Iran.

The selection panels for the six sections of the 37th FIFF announced 109 titles to be displayed at the event.

The festival’s Head of International Affairs Amir Esfandiari said the juries include well-known Iranian and foreign filmmakers and producers who will judge the participating movies in six different sections.

There will be five foreign and two Iranian jury members for International Competition, he added.

Esfandiari also noted that other sections such as Eastern Vista, Interfaith, and NETPAC will have 3 to 5 jury members.

He added that some 1400 titles were submitted to the secretariat of the festival, including 900 feature-length, 200 shorts and at least 300 documentaries.

According to Esfandiari, more than 255 international A-list guests, judges, university scholars, producers and agents, including high-ranking delegates and representatives from 75 countries, are expected to take part in the cinematic event.

Headed by Iranian filmmaker Reza Mirkarimi, the 37th FIFF will be held in the capital, Tehran, on April 18-26, 2019.

A national version of the Fajr Film Festival (FFF) kicked off on January 30 and wrapped up on February 11.

Since its establishment in 1982, the festival has played vital roles in the development of Iranian Cinema.
